3rd April 2007

Age is just another number game!

the mist freezing my ass off

i sprung out of bed from ain's lung belting "HAPPEE BIRTHDAY LYZZIEE!!" and by then i had only half an hour to be at the hotel lobby to meet pak mader. i was surprised to see six others at the lobby when we came down and am secretly glad they joined us, cos the thought of just me and ai'n, two girls hiking up a mountain is a lil scary for comfort. pak mader was prompt and was already waiting for us exactly at 2am. greeted with a warmth smile, he politely told us to bring along our jackets as the temperature was slightly lower at where we were going. which i fortunately did. heh. i was shivering cold when we rched batur indah restaurant at the foot of mt batur after two hours drive long.

it was a long hike up the moutain. and wearing jack purcells certainly didn't give any moral, or in this case, physical boosting. heh. after cold sweats, shivers n pain, body aches, muscle cramps and breathlessness, we reached the mountain summit right before sunrise. COOLNEESSS!! literally. hahahah. but but, the view makes all the tiredness evaporates into the moutain clouds, and the two n a half hour journey up suddenly seems all worth the little sleep earlier. heh.

sunrise amidst the moutain clouds

it was about 23 degrees with the windchill up there. i wore socks(clean ones) on my hands in addition to my jacket and could barely operate my soulmate. hardly the bali we imagined! heh.

more nauseatingly photos of mt batur

there's this lil hut at the summit where ppl could buy drinks and marveled at the place, and beside it was a rock where i climbed up just to be a notch higher than everyone else. picture big sur - that wild unmanicured beauty, dramatic cliffs overlooking the moutain mist. and rainbows sits in the clouds over turqouise water.

the delta goodrum "rainbow song" kept popping into my mind.

"red, and yellow and pink, and green, purple and orange and blue... I can sing a rainbow... sing a rainbow... sing a rainbow too..."

i feel like the top of the world! (punintended) heheh.

ai'n was in awe. she stands quiet mostly when we were there. or maybe she's just plain exhausted. hahahah. but as i walked over to her, i whispered to myself - 'happy bday you'. and cant stop grinning like a pig. *rolleyes* a sucker for mother nature.

after that i heard alot of moaning and sighing as we hike back down to earth. hahaha. how we all wish we could just para-glide down instead.

maybe next time lah.

P.S: I've climbed up Mount Batur on my 27th birthday. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
